Humanity Tells A Story: What’s Your Chapter
How great is it that the students celebrate this?! Love the creative ways we get the children to incorporate reading in their daily lives. This year, January 25th through the 29th is when we celebrate. Usually, each school chooses different ways to celebrate literacy. Florida does come up with their own schedule of celebration by county and it is in the link below. Below are the ways we have celebrated through the years.

Literacy Week & 100th Day of School
It just so happens that the 100th day of school usually falls around this time as well. So let’s just celebrate that too! Through the years we have dressed up as characters from books, wore our words on our shirts and hates, done some crazy hair and so on. Flashlights and headlamps have been brought to school for reading in the dark, they thoughts that was super cool! How do you celebrate literacy week?
Literacy Week – 2021
We celebrated this a little harder when they were little. The elementary age schools tend to get into it a bit more for obvious reasons. 5th grade is still elementary, so dress-up we will. Saoirse just went along with it, cause she is a good sport!
READ MY SHIRT DAY & 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL
Wear a shirt with appropriate writing. Shenanigans seemed appropriate for this kid and he gets to wear his Mardi Gras shirt an additional time – bonus 🙂
They both humored me with the 100 prop glasses, love them. Also, found baby Paddy for 100th Day – I can not stand the cuteness!!!!
French Toast – The was a little sad Tiny was getting and egg sandwich (favorite) for breakfast and he was getting a store muffin (i know problems right?!?!). It is the 100th day of school so I whipped up some French Toast… I might have stolen few bites… friggin’ yummy like this!! Plus I added a little Bisquick!
RECIPE FOR PUDDING FRENCH TOAST
Pudding French Toast
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp Bisquick
- 1 tbsp instant vanilla pudding
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp cinnamon sugar
- 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 slices Potato Bread
Instructions
- Beat the eggs
- Add the cream and beat them a bit more
- Add all the other ingredients and mix
- Butter the pan and let it get hot
- Dip the bread, flip the bread and let it sit for a second – do this to both slices and add to pan
- cook it at a low to medium – takes a bit longer but I like to know the eggs are cooked and the toast does not burn
- Plate and add powdered sugar and warm maple syrup
- * I add butter to the syrup and heat it up
Hey Guys… It’s your day too!!! Cheers to 100 days of getting it done!!!!
PSAT DAY
Well this snuck up on us! How are we at the PSAT age already?!?!? Like what the actual fuck! Egg sandwich for the win this morning!!! We popped into Walgreens to get a new calculator as well as some pencils, erasers and some candies for her and her buddies for the test today. Grabbing a a few little extra’s helped to not stress her out for the moment. Do they even need pencils? Is this test not on the computer? Who knows… but you can always use a pre-sharpened pencil. I placed a dragonfly charm for good luck in her lunch today 🙂 and a baby coke 🙂 Not stressed about the test – just yelled out the car at her… Don’t FAIL!! haha – no pressure!
