ICE – Cancelled for 2020
ICE is a popular attraction during the holiday season here in Orlando. However, it has become another casualty of Covid. This popular attraction is made mostly of you guessed it… ICE! The artists who create these masterpieces are from China. It takes a great deal of time to create and they were not able to start on time due to the quarantine and travel bans. Don’t start crying yet… there will be a NEW attraction in it’s place.
See below for pictures from previous years.

“I LOVE CHRISTMAS MOVIES”
This hotel pays attention to EVERY detail. If you have never been to Gaylord Palms then you are in for a treat. When you step into this hotel you feel like you are stepping into another world. Atrium style resort… so you are inside but feel like you are outside, pretty surreal. There are wetlands, ships, and amazing buildings inside. The walkways and landscaping inside are breath taking on an average day.
The holiday decorations are ridiculously over the top! So even though ICE is not going to be there this year I am certain the NEW theme will be just as spectacular. The claim to be bringing our favorite holiday movies to life and put us in the movies!
November 13th – Start Date and runs through January 3rd.
Tickets are on sale now. However, if you stay in the hotel you do get first priority for the day. (well that is what I was told anyways when we booked)
Walk through the scenes of your favorite holiday movies…
- Elf… try elf scramble
- The Polar Express
- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation… try this game
- A Christmas Story… a major card game
- A Year without a Santa Klaus….. santa game
This is a pop up event so maybe ICE will be back next year, This year there will be about 13 different scenes and multiple experiences. They will be bringing back the snow tubing, scavenger hunt, cookie decorating and more. Last year they did have snow ball throwing, see below, I am not sure it will be back though.
We are also told they will have special protocols for social distancing and enhanced cleaning procedures…. duh! You should always carry your own hand sanitizer and wash your hands. Also… even after Covid is over when out in public… stay in your own bubble. When standing in line – back off other people’s butts… give people some space. It’s just the right things to do.
Try this popcorn while watching your Christmas movies this year!
- I love Christmas Movies walk
- Snow Flow Mountain – snow tube slides
- Snowball Build and Blast
- The Grinch Scavenger Hunt

We have also stayed in the summer and LOVED the pool area. So much for the kids to do. Movies in the pool, basketball area an giant slides!!! There are gators in the Atrium area and a Key West Section. Not to mention the large sailboat on the water inside that you can eat on!
The picture below is the ceiling of the bar. Above is a featured drink from last season. As you can see they donate some of the funds to suicide prevention.
During the holiday season this area has a MASSIVE Christmas tree. In the past there has been a stage for shows towards the back and chairs where the children are standing.
When you check in ask for the feeding schedule for the gators, always fun to watch.
This area is an everglade walk way, my favorite. There are boardwalks, 2 levels and a restaurant. This is the walkway you take to the arcade and the spa.
This restaurant is one of many themed restaurants in the hotel. To be clear this boat has dinning – it does NOT move and it is INSIDE.
In the center of the Atrium are Spanish fort replica’s. You can walk through these as well as up and overlook the inside of the Atrium. This is a great coffee walk in the mornings. FYI – there is a Starbucks inside this hotel as well as many shops.
Key West Area has an ice cream shop and a gift shop. It does give off a very Key West vibe. It is located near the sailboat area that is featured above.
The pool area is LEGIT. Multiple play areas and multiple slides. Drinks and food served to your chairs.
